Palm calluses

One of the non-leg-related issues that may come up with crutches is wear and tear on hands. Apparently, I crutch around more than most people. I hadn't become aware of this until recently. I crutch around to the point that my hands, through the crutch hand pads and bike gloves, are still callusing pretty bad. In addition to the rub spots on my wrist, I look like something bad happened.

  1. OK! This is starting to get really creepy.... my hands look exactly like that too!!! Last night I got tired of looking at them, so I got out my pedicure set and started to file down the calluses... hahahha.. and, it worked pretty well! Keep it in mind!! :)

  2. I don't do much manual labor, it should fade away fairly quickly. I used to have calluses on the bottom of my feet (from a lifetime of being barefoot) that completely disappeared within months. :P

  3. Haha, I am starting to get calluses on my hands. I haven't been using gloves or anything. My palms are really sore. I have noticed though my shoulders have become the most sore from crutching around. I just rubbed Ben Gay on them hoping it will help. So soon and there will be no more crutching around!

  4. Agreed! I can't wait to be able to just stand up and go somewhere instead of having to crutch and hop around, especially in the middle of the night. :P
